 Testimonials
Dear Tim,

Patti and I are absolutely thrilled with the new crown moulding and base boards in our home! Our experience with your company has been wonderful from the beginning.
We appreciated the time you sepnt with us in selceting the best moulding for us from your catalog. You and your crew arrived on time, and were extremely polite and efficient. I was very impressed with how fast the work proceeded and the attention to detail even in the hard to reach areas.
Your son, Michael is an outstanding foreman who works hard to anticipate the resources and logistics required to complete everything quickly without compromising on quality. It is clear to me that he has earned the respect of everyone on your crew.
There is such a huge improvement in the way our home looks and feels now. Photographs are simply inadequate to communicate how much more aesthetic appeal there is in every space including the hallways. Patti and I agree we had no idea how much this would improve our home. I am also very grateful to you for constantly suggesting ways to make our project as cost effective as possible.

I will be very happy to write a highly positive review of our experiences with your company on Angie's list as well. I would also be delighted to recommend your services to anyone who wants to improve their home.

Sincerely,

James W.O, MD,FAAP

"Dear Tim,

I just wanted to thank you again for the wonderful craftsmanship and installation of my new mouldings and crown mouldings. My office looks fabulous. It has been fun to have people come over to see it and look at your work trying to find the seams. I am so proud of this room, and I LOVE my fire place mantle!

It was also a pleasure to meet your helpers John and Les...I was impressed with how neat, professional and careful they were.

It was nice to see the work complete when I came home and everything was so clean, with nothing for me to "re-do." As a realestate agent, it is important
for me to find contractors that I can refer to my clients with confidence. You are definitely on that list!!

If you ever need a referral, don't hesitate to have your customer call me.

Sincerely,

Gail S.

As another example of a happy customer, Judy of Escondido recently wrote:

"To Whom It May Concern:

Over the years, I have needed construction and custom work done in my home. It has been hard to find a real "artist" who specializes in Finish work- Someone who has the attention to detail. I was fortunate to find Tim Larkin. He has done some of the nicest finish work I have ever seen. From detailed moulding, to the new custom fire place Mantle he built for me, to the awesome door accents, is really quite something. When people come over to my home, they are always amazed at the detail and quality of Tim's work. They always comment on it. It really stands out and apart from the others. It is what makes my house a "home," and special looking. I dream of other projects for Tim. He really is what one would call the best, or...the "genuine article."-- A true crafstman is hard to find. It has become a lost art. Tim's work brings you back to a time where people cared about the kind of product they put out. I appreciate his team, too. They arrive on time as planned, and finish in a timely manner. The job is done with precision. Your home will increase in value after hiring Tim. Out of all the projects I have done to my home, his has made me the most happiest. I can't say enough about him. When you hire someone like Tim, you rest easy and assured. You have just hired the very best. No one compares. I personally feel he is the best at what he does. He knows his craft and does it well.

Sincerely, Judy"

To whom it may concern..
The crown moulding that Tim installed in our home is outstanding. It far exceeded our expectations, especially the way he covered our vents! No seams can be detected, and the bullnose corners and "returns" are also the best we have ever seen. Tim and his crew were on time and very professional. Now our neighbors are going to use Tim's services and I would recommend him to anyone.

Member Comments:

Excellent, everything that was designed and quoted was professionaly and cheerfully installed as promised. This crew of a family owned company was friendly, pleasent and professional. They moved furniture carefully and took care to not damage anything in my home. I had them in several times because we added rooms to do as we saw how great the baseboard and molding looked. All joints were carefully sealed, sanded and painted to match, they even touched up the walls with my paint colors where the base and molding ended against the walls. They protected all the floors and demoed the old baseboard. After each days work, the areas were cleaned and all scrap and old baseboard and door molding was carried away.
I cannot say too much about how great I and my family were treated, and how great the project turned out.

Company Response:

Wow. Thank you member for making my job so rewarding. It was a pleasure serving you and your wife.

Description Of Work:

TFL installed new baseboards in the entire lower level of my house, in a upstairs foyer, and in upstairs bathrooms that had new tile. An interior design and project management firm recommended TFL to me, however I contracted directly with TFL for the work described herein.

Member Comments:

Tim Larkin visited my house and provided me with a quote for the baseboard installation described above. After I accepted the quote he visited the house again and took detailed measurements. Then his crew returned to install baseboards after much other work had been done on my house including installing new wood flooring and tile throughout much of the house. Tim's crew was punctual, efficient, and performed high quality work. I was very impressed with the professionalism and efficiency of the work crew, which featured one of Tim's sons as the job foreman. The crew installed beautiful new baseboards throughout my house and painted them very well with a bright white finish.

The baseboards were an excellent 'finishing touch' to add to the new flooring and paint job my house received as part of a large remodeling project. I plan to call Tim again in the foreseeable future to replace the remaining baseboards in my house that were not part of my major remodeling project this year.

Company Response:

Thank you so much Member, for allowing us to be a part of your remodel. And, for taking the time to write this report. Your feedback means so much to me and my crew and it keeps us motivated to continue improving the value and expertise in what we do. We look forward to working with you again very soon!

Crown moulding through most of the house, new base moulding downstairs, arch doorway paneling and trim, fluted columns over mantle, casings around certain windows and a sliding door.

Member Comments:

We are extremely pleased with the end result! Tim Larkin and his group of professionals (including his sons Mike and Chris) exhibited craftsmanship and a work ethic that was astounding. First, Tim met with us to see exactly what we wanted to do. He supplied lots of creative suggestions about how to make our home look best, and we used most of his suggestions. His team always arrived punctually and ready to work. They paid close attention to protecting our furniture and our new flooring, making sure that everything was moved and/or protected by plastic sheeting. They measured precisely and worked as a team in installing the large pieces of crown that were glued together to go around corners. We have been so impressed by all the corners and joints -- you can't see an imperfection or a crack anywhere. When all the pieces had been installed, the team went to work sanding, caulking and painting -- to make it all perfect. And the whole project was done in just a few days -- we couldn't believe it. Finally, the group was extremely responsive to any request we made. They made sure that we were completely satisfied before they left. And we were.

Company Response:

Thank you Member.
Your home is now one of my favorites! :) I am so proud of my crew and thankful for good customers as yourself who were very gracious to work with and attentive to whatever we needed to do the job efficiently. Thank you for your kind words, and for referring us to your neighbors! :)

Member Comments:

We have a 1970's house which needed a complete overhaul. When we were ready to do the crown moulding I initially hired two carpenters who bought the materials and delivered them. Prior to the work being done we had a major flood and had to put off installation. When we were ready again I tried reaching them with no avail. Then I found Tim Larkin through a recommendation. Am I glad things turned out they way they did. Tim upgraded the molding, gave me expert advice without being pushy and did the job for less than we would have paid the other guys. We have very high ceilings but that was not a problem for these pros. Tim was punctual, professional, courteous and the quality of his work was excellent. We will be using his services again when we redo our upstairs rooms.

Company Response:

I appreciate so much the time you took to share your thoughts and I look forward with my crew to finishing your upstairs rooms very soon. Your home looks amazing! :) Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. -Tim

Installed 6” and 8” Crown Molding throughout Replaced 2” Baseboard with 6” Base and Bull Nose Corners Replaced 2” arched Door Casing throughout with 3.5” Door Casing Added Window Casing to several windows including four arched windows Finished pony wall and several deep windows with wood top and crown apron support Framed out bathroom mirrors Added Chair Rail to office ALL of the above included 3 coats of Paint

Member Comments:

Tim Larkin is an absolute professional when it comes to finish carpentry. It was clear from our first meeting that he strives for artistic excellence and perfectionism—both qualities which are extremely important to me. The scale of my project was quite large and included both 8” and 6” crown molding (some in 20 foot high ceilings,) replacing 2” baseboard with heavy 6” base that included bull nose corners, replacing casing on windows and doors (including many arches,) and trimming out pony walls and deep window openings with wood tops and finish trim to complement all of the other trim detail. The result is amazing. The house finally looks finished and quite grand. It is these kind of details that really take a home to another level. Tim and his crew really strive to make every detail precise and beautiful and they work hard to make sure that the customer is satisfied. He treats his work as a fine craft and strives for excellence at every turn. He is honest and caring and truly an honorable business person AND individual. The project was spread over two phases to help with the large expense and all of the work blends seamlessly. He is willing to work with the homeowner to make their dreams come to fruition. I spent many years wanting to do this work and am now convinced that I was waiting for the right person. I hope to hire Tim again in the future (Phase 3) and continue to improve my homes beauty and market value. In conclusion, Tim Larkin is quite simply THE BEST.

Company Response:

Member Comments:

Tim and his team arrived promptly - were very careful about making sure my household furnishings properly taken care of before beginning their work. Got right to work - and absolutely knew what they were doing. I would consider them "experts" in this field. They completed the work in a professional manner - again making sure all touch-up completed and done to my specifications upon completion. My neighbor came in at end of job, and were so impressed, they scheduled him to do the same work in their home.

Tim Larkin installed crown moulding in every room of my house. He also installed wainscot on every wall of my master bedroom, and in my dining room. In addition, he created a beautiful entryway to the dressing area of my master bedroom. He also created a distinctive entry to a hallway leading to the guest bedroom. In this hallway he added a chair rail which enhanced the area enormously. He also created a beautiful mantle for my fireplace in my family room.

Member Comments:

The job that the Larkin Company did for me was outstanding. I am extremely pleased with the beautiful results, and excellent craftsmanship. Throughout the process, the crew worked professionally and carefully. All areas were meticulously covered with plastic when they were working, and they also cleaned every area impeccably when they finished. In addition, Tim Larkin provided excellent, and extremely creative guidance, during the design and consultation phase of our project. By following Tim's suggestions, I achieved elegant and very distinctive additions to my home. Throughout the process, Tim was passionate about achieving the most beautiful look possible, at the most reasonable price. I strongly, and without qualification, recommend T. F. LARKIN, INC. for moulding and wainscot and any other fine additions that a homeowner might wish to add.

Company Response:

Crown molding on a vaulted ceiling in our master bedroom; Framing around two large mirrors in bathroom

Member Comments:

We have interacted with many home improvement companies since we first bought our house 26 years ago. Without a doubt, Tim's team is the best that we've ever dealt with! I called several other companies who specialize in carpentry and/or molding, four of whom came out to give us estimates. Two companies refused the job because they felt that it was too complicated. One other company put in a bid which was comparable to Tim's. In deciding between the two, there was no contest. Tim provided very helpful comments and advice. We just hoped that his work was as impressive as his presentation. We were not at all disappointed! Actually, it was a pleasure to have Tim's team, including his son, perform the work. They were extremely courteous and unbelievably neat! The work is absolutely perfect. My husband, who is a total perfectionist, was so impressed with the work. It took them (3 guys altogether) about 1/2 a day to totally complete the job. It was clear that these guys have pride in their work and have a strong work ethic. Tim was very pleasant to interact with. He called after the job was done to make sure that we were completely satisfied and I knew that, if we would have had a complaint, Tim would have dealt with it until we were happy, even though he had, at that point, been paid in full. They arrived exactly when they said they would. What a refreshing experience! One more thing, we hate having workers in our house, because we never know how honest and reliable they are. With these guys we didn't worry one bit!

Company Response:

Thank You!!

During the consultation he gave us artistic advise as to what would look good, showed us pictures of examples, etc. We are really pleased with the results. It looks great. There were some complex angles that he solved elegantly, plus some great wainscoting. He and his team showed up on time, really "turned to". They took pride in their work and were also very responsive to any concerns I may have had and very respectful. Definitely recommended. A note, contrasting color walls to the molding really make it pop.

Company Response:

You and your wife were a pleasure to serve. I loved how you were willing to try new things, and it paid off! Your home just looks amazing.! Thank you so much for your kind words. Tim

Description Of Work:

1,350 square foot condo. Installed new 4 1/2 inch baseboards in the entire condo Installed 4 inch and 2 1/2 inch crown moulding in the entire condo. In a number of places he installed both 4 inch and 2 1/2 inch crown moulding where I had two levels of ceilings, etc.

Member Comments:

Excellent job. I am recommending Tim and his crew to everyone. I am a perfectionist and I cannot find anything to complain about. My friends used a handyman to do their baseboards and when they saw my condo they couldnt't believe the difference. My work looks so much more professional and is near perfection. I had some difficult areas to do - hexagon ceiling in kitchen and semi circle above my door. Tim had some ideas of how to handle these areas and they look absolutley wonderful. He suggested a couple of things to me (I have no decorating abilities at all) and the work that he did that I was not completely sold on are now my favorite part of my condo. I obtained Tim's information from Angie's list and took a leap of faith. I work alot of hours so I needed someone I trusted to be able to be in my condo alone during the day. The job took four days of work. My house was neat and orderly at the end of everyday when I came home. The crew were all very nice guys, supervised by Tim's son who also does a great job, and I had absolutely no issues with anything they did. They arrived on time and were respectful of my time as well.

Company Response:

Thank you. I am speechless and overwhelmed by your words. WOW :) -Tim

Description Of Work:

Approximately 105 linear feet of 6.5" crown molding was installed in the family room and kitchen. A 4' section of old molding was replaced above the media niche. Another 55' of 5.5" crown molding was installed in the master bath.

Member Comments:

After reviewing the contractors in Angie's List, we had two come out to provide estimates. Both were professional and offered the similar quotes (but only because Tim offered a 15% discount). However, Tim was a bit more detail oriented and took the time to explain key areas of each job and showed us photos of his other work. Also, Tim pre-applied 2 coats of paint prior to arriving at the job and offered a 7-year warranty. He and his son finished the job in about 6 hours with no evidence of their presence other than the finished work and a tiny bit of dust in a couple of areas. The molding looked great except for one corner in the master bath where the molding was low by 1/4". Tim explained that the ceiling was slightly bowed there and that the wall was also 3 degrees out of plumb. (Word to the wise, if your walls and ceilings are not plumb and square within 1 degree, use foam molding instead of MDF. It can be conformed to hide these defects.) The only real complaint I have is on a great service that they offer. If you supply cans of your existing wall paint, they will trim the caulk line at the base of the molding. In theory, this should leave a clean finish. However, since the caulk and the final coat of paint are still tacky, they can't use painters tape on the molding. Instead they cut in the trim paint freehand, which leaves lots of irregularities. They came back out a second time to fix a dozen or so spots at no charge. However, I'd recommend that they skip this step during installation and return to do it a couple of days later or discount the job and leave it to the homeowner to do it correctly. That said, it was an absolute pleasure to work with Tim and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. He is a true professional contractor and you will never spend a second worrying about his licensing or how he'll treat you or your house.

Company Response:

Thank you for your honest evaluation and the "A" rating you gave us. Your walls and ceilings were very bowed up to five degrees in some spots. This definitely presented a problem where we needed to fill in the space between the straight crown and curved walls in your bathroom. The only discrepancy I saw was whether the scribe should be wall color or crown color. I appreciate the advice given and will strive to perfect our technique even further. I was also unaware of any visual nail holes..? Please have me come back to fix those, if any. Finally, current "Market prices" should include costs of customer's protection with insurance as well as the extra paint and material upgrades we provide. Unfortunately, many contractors do not provide what we do, and are not as insured and can therefore charge a little less. That is where the difference lies in job cost comparisons. The 15% discount offered in this situation was in reference to the economy, and how it has effected us all. We have dropped our standard pricing down 15% during these difficult times to help people get through this season. I hope all our customers continue to appreciate the fact that we do things legal and at a higher standard than anyone else in our field. That is always our goal. Thanks again for your kind words.

Description Of Work:

I tried to find someone on Angie's List to install baseboard molding and crown molding. Tim Larkin was refered to me by another website and he was absolutely terrific! He loves molding! He will put it anywhere and everywhere you like. He has been doing it all of his life and he is a master carpenter. I had him repair some crown molding that was previously installed incorrectly and install crown molding in my living room. I swear; this crown molding is what sold my condo in 2 weeks (yes, in this market)! Please put his company on your listing under MOLDING - Professional installation.

Member Comments:

It went great. He came when he said he was going to; his son and one other worker came with him, but he monitored the entire job. Molding can make your place look so much better than your neighbor's place. Do it now!

Installed crown moulding and baseboards in our house

Member Comments:

We had a little snafu at the beginning when he measured for moulding and baseboards for our kitchen (we didn't need it there), but he quickly came back out, redid the measurements, adjusted the quote and contacted us to personally apologize for the miscommunication. He seemed very focused on customer service and wanted to be sure that we were satisfied. He installed the moulding and baseboards while we were still moved out for our remodel and when we came home we were awed at the job he had done. He is truly a master at his craft. Not only are the moulding and baseboards gorgeous, but they are perfect. There were a few problem areas that he artfully dealt with (for example a door next to a wall needed a bit of space to open so he formed the moulding to allow for the door to open, and it looks beautiful. He also worked around vents that were too close to the wall. He has solutions for any problem area of your house!). Seriously, we could not be more happy with his work.

Description Of Work:

We wanted to frame a very large custom arched mirror in our master bathroom following a major renovation of the room.

Member Comments:

The mirror is 92" wide and could not be framed with traditional wood framing because of the arch. We decided we'd like to use flex moulding to frame the mirror and then have it artistically painted to give the rich appearance of an elegant frame. I found Tim Larkin on Angie's List, called him and discussed my project with him. I was pleased that Tim was interested in my small project and he made several helpful suggestions to ensure I would be pleased with the end result. Since the moulding comes in minimum lengths, and my project was shorter than the minimum, Tim did not need to measure and we were able to accomplish moulding selection, contract terms, etc., by e-mail and phone. This was very convenient and time-efficient for us both. Tim and his son arrived on time to install the moulding and did an excellent job. The corners are perfectly cut and joined and the method for attaching it to the wall cannot be seen at all. They worked quickly and what little there was to clean up they took care of.

Company Response

We wanted to have crown moulding and baseboards installed as part of a major home remodeling project.

Member Comments:

Tim Larkin and his crew arrived on time and went to work quickly and efficiently. It was amazing to me how fast and expertly the work was done, even in hard to reach portions of the ceiling. There was a small area where I realized touch-up was needed a few days after they left; Tim came out promptly and made everything perfect. I especially appreciated Mr. Larkin's suggestions during our project which saved us unnecessary expense. There is such a huge improvement in the way our home looks and feels now. Photographs would be simply inadequate to communicate how much more aesthetic appeal there is in every space including the hallways. My wife and I are thrilled with how the new crown moulding and baseboards beautifully frame everything in our home!
